A stackable chair is designed so that chairs of the same model can be safely placed on top of each other. It may look like a small detail on paper, but in busy venues it directly affects storage, set-up and cleaning.
Where does it make a difference?
- Hotel meeting and ball rooms: Layouts can change several times a day.
- Breakfast rooms and restaurants: Chairs are cleared quickly for evening cleaning.
- Weddings, receptions and events: Set-up and take-down are faster.
- Seasonal terraces and pool areas: Chairs take little space when stored in winter.
What to check
Stacking quantity
How many chairs can be stacked safely depends on the model. On our site, for example, Tilia's Ali, Duo, Elite and Flora are listed as stacking 10 high and Louise 8 high. You will find this on every product page and as the stack icon on catalogue cards.
Material and surface
Polypropylene chairs are light, which also helps when moving a full stack. Tilia models have a matt, highly abrasion-resistant surface, so scuffs from constant stacking show less.
Feet
Feet caps protect the floor and stop the chair from sliding. Tilia models use non-slip PVC feet.
With or without arms?
Armless models usually stack higher and sit closer to the table. For long restaurant or meeting seating, armchairs can be more comfortable.
