Mechanism
The mechanism decides how the chair moves when you lean back.
- Synchro mechanism: Backrest and seat move together at different angles, so your feet stay on the floor as you recline. Sodu, Aria, Legro and Trio use this mechanism.
- Rocking: Models such as Flo have a simpler forward-backward rocking motion.
- Multi-tilting: Pivot has a mechanism that locks at different angles.
Lumbar support
Supporting the lower back matters for people who sit for long periods. Sodu has an adjustable back support mechanism and Pivot adjustable lumbar support.
Armrest adjustment
Armrests should help keep shoulders relaxed and elbows level with the desk.
- 3D armrests: Adjust up-down, left-right and forward-back (Sodu, Aria).
- 2D armrests: Adjust in two directions (Pivot).
- Fixed armrests: For uses that need no adjustment (Flo).
Seat depth
Seat depth adjustment lets users of different heights lean back without pressure behind the knees. Sodu and Flo offer this adjustment.
Mesh or upholstered back?
- Mesh back: Breathable, comfortable in warm offices (Sodu, Aria, Flo, Pivot).
- Upholstered back: A more classic, representative look, often chosen for executive offices (Trio, Legro).
Meeting and visitor chairs
Meeting rooms usually need simple, height-adjustable models without many settings, such as Tux.
Quick notes on correct use
- Feet should rest flat on the floor, with knees roughly level with the hips.
- The top of the monitor should be at or slightly below eye level.
- However good the chair, get up and move from time to time.
