Thanks to the mild climate, restaurants and cafés in Antalya serve on the terrace for most of the year. That means terrace furniture faces sun, humidity and heavy use for long periods.
Sun
On terraces in the sun for long hours, how the material behaves in sunlight matters.
- Tilia models such as Louise have bodies of UV-stabilised, pigmented, glass-fibre polypropylene.
- Siesta's Maya and Diva are made of glass-fibre reinforced polypropylene by gas injection.
UV stabilisation varies by model, so check the materials table on the product page. Dark colours heat up more in the sun; lighter shades can be more comfortable in full sun.
Wind
On seaside and high-level terraces, light chairs can tip or slide in the wind.
- Heavier option: Cast aluminium chairs and tables, such as Cast Garden's Queen and Q75 Round Table.
- Lighter option: Polypropylene chairs can be stacked and brought inside in the evening.
Table stability
On windy terraces, table bases should be wide and solid. See our table base and top post for choosing bases, e.g. Moon Fixed.
Humidity and salt
On coastal terraces, salty air and morning humidity are hard on metal parts. Polypropylene frames don't rust; on cast aluminium products, the electrostatic powder coating protects the surface. In both cases, regular wiping with fresh water extends product life.
Winter months
On terraces that stay open in winter, surfaces that dry quickly after rain and wipe clean easily are an advantage. During closed periods, stackable products make storage easier.
